[SUMMARY]

Do you need to teach your children to be grateful?

I get asked this question all of the time. Busy moms and dads everywhere are hearing, and understanding, how important gratitude is, but they’re still asking whether or not they have to teach it to their children or whether it’s just something they’re born with or will pick up in school or elsewhere.

The simple answer is YES, you have to teach your children to be grateful because if you don’t do it, chances are no one else will.

Gratitude is a learned skill and it’s your job as a parent to help your children learn it by actively teaching them to be grateful. You want to do this because there are so many amazing benefits to you and to your children of being grateful, and also some very negative consequences of entitlement and ingratitude.

I also want you to know that no matter how busy you are or your family is, that you absolutely can teach your children to be grateful and it can be easy and fun to do it!  I’ll tell you more about that after the video so be sure to check out the links below!

Hi, Cheri Fogarty here, Author of How To Get Happier & More Grateful Children in Just 21 Days (now called The Habit Gratitude Blueprint™ For Busy Families: The #1 Secret To Teaching Kids To Be Grateful & The Exciting NEW Step-By-Step System For Actually Doing It In Just 21 Days) and Founder of The Habit Gratitude Blueprint™ For Busy Families where we show you how to get happier and more grateful children, and be happier and more grateful yourself.

Today I’m answering some more frequently asked questions – questions I hear time and time again from other busy moms like you in the real world when they’re trying to teach their kids to be grateful.

In each of the videos in this series I’ll answer one frequently asked question because I know you’re busy and don’t have a lot of time so I’m just going to cover one per video. You’ll get them all by the end of the series and of course you can always ask your questions in the comments below and maybe you’ll get an answer in the next video or one of the next videos of if not I’ll answer your questions in the comments below.

Ok, this is a question I hear time and time again. The first time I heard it was years ago when I first started teaching my children to be grateful and other moms and children to be grateful.

It was from one of my smartest friends and ti still surprises me that I keep hearing it.

She asked me “this gratitude thing sound really good but do I really need to teach my children to be more grateful?”

And the answer is YES, you have to do it because if you don’t do it, no one else will!

No one else out there is trying to teach your children to be more grateful, in fact, pretty much everything out there is trying to teach them the opposite!

It seems like everywhere we turn these days there’s entitlement and ingratitude and materialism and unhappiness from reality television, to celebrities, to politics, the news and even the soccer field.BLQ Cheri Fogarty Gratitude Break Purple Watermark JPG

So if you don’t teach your children to be more grateful no one else will.

And here’s the thing: Gratitude is really, really important; not just to avoid all of the negative consequences and effects of ingratitude and entitlement that you see everywhere you turn, not just today but for a lifetime. But it’s also that we want the benefits of gratitude and there are many for you and for your children… from increased happiness to optimism, health, more kinds, compassionate, etc. If you want those benefits you have to actively teach your children to be more grateful.

Nobody is born grateful, at least most of us aren’t born grateful.  Gratitude is a learned skill. It’s also the basis for happiness so if you want all of the benefits of gratitude and if you want to avoid all of the negative consequences and pitfalls of entitlement and ingratitude you have to teach your children to be more grateful.

So that’s the answer. Our job as busy moms and dads is to teach our children to be more grateful.

It’s our job, it’s our privilege and it’s our responsibility, because again, if we don’t do it, no one else will.

So obviously on our website, http://www.cherifogarty.com we have all sorts of tools, ideas and strategies and programs for teaching your children to be more grateful in a super simple and fun way. So when you’re ready to get started, which I hope is today, to teach your children to be more grateful and to become more grateful yourself, so you can have all of the benefits not just for today but for a lifetime, join us there so you can get more information.

As always, than you so much for being here, for being a  mom or dad, and for everything you do each and everyday to be the best one you can be.

Remember, we can have happier and more grateful children.

We can be happier and more grateful ourselves.

And we can, and we are, changing the world, one child and one family at a time, starting with our own – but you have to teach them to be grateful if you want more grateful children!

Thanks so much for being here and I’ll see you next time.

Cheri
