Gratitude Journal For Kids Question #3

One of the best ways to help your children be more grateful is with a gratitude journal.

But all gratitude journals are not created equal (learn why just keeping a gratitude journal like Oprah won’t make your kids more grateful and more importantly, what needs to be in a gratitude journal to teach them to be grateful).

This week you and your children will add another Gratitude Journal Page to your Great Big Book of Gratitude, or Gratitude Journal. This page works because it helps you and your children focus your thoughts, words and actions for gratitude, in the case, one person you are especially grateful for more importantly, why you’re grateful for them.

Watch the video now and then make sure to put today’s tip into action and actually do it! Remember that knowing it and doing it are two very different things. Common sense isn’t always common practice. So if you want the benefit of this best life parenting tip, for you and for your children, be sure to do it!

Hi, Cheri Fogarty here, Founder of The Habit Gratitude Blueprint™ for Busy Moms and Families where we show you how to get happier and more grateful children and be happier and more grateful yourself.

Today’s super simple question for you and your children for your great big book of gratitude, your gratitude journal, is to pick one person you’re especially grateful for, and of course you’ll have your children pick one person they’re especially grateful for too. Then write down the person’s name and write why you’re/they’re grateful for that person.

Then it’s really fun if they want to draw a picture of the person or a picture of the person and them together or take a picture, or if they have a picture to print it and put it in the journal as a reminder, or even put a picture up on the wall, as a reminder of that special person and why they’re grateful for them.

It’s super simple but super powerful because again, it’s focusing our thoughts and awareness on who we have to be grateful for, all of the things, people, places and things that we have in our lives to be grateful for.

This week it’s focusing on one special person. It could be a friend, a family member. It can even be a pet. Even though a pet is not a person, it doesn’t matter, if it’s special and meaningful to your child or to you. That said, super simple. It doesn’t take much time at all, but you have to do it, if you want the benefit of it. Knowing it and doing it are two different things.

As always, I’d love to see pictures of your journal pages and your children’s in the Facebook group, if you get your children’s permission. We always want to do that first before posting things. Then leave comments and questions below as well. It’s great to interact there with other busy moms and dads who want to teach their kids to be more grateful and to be more grateful themselves.

If you want even more tips, tools, ideas and strategies for how to teach your children to be more grateful or to actually create the habit of gratitude once and for all in your very busy family, be sure to head over to after the episode, if you’re not already there. There’s all sorts of information and resources there on how to do that.

Thank you so much for being a mom and for everything you do each and every day to be the best one you can be, it’s a big job, or dad. It’s a big job, and I honor your commitment for doing it and for being the best mom you can be, including teaching your children, and especially teaching your children, to be more grateful. Thank you. I honor your commitment to doing that.

Remember, until next time, we can have happier and more grateful children. We can be happier and more grateful ourselves. Really, we can. And we can, and we are, changing the world one child and one family at a time starting with our own.

Thank you so much for being here. I’ll see you next time.
