It’s our job as parents, no matter how busy we are or our family is, to teach our children to be more grateful.

Because if we don’t do it, chances are that no one else will.

Gratitude is the key to happiness so there may no more important job for us to do than to teach our children to be more grateful.

We have to teach our children what’s most important, and not just run around from one thing to the next.

When we teach our children to be grateful we’re showing our commitment to being the best parent we can be and giving them a gift for a lifetime and legacy like no other.

It’s your job to teach your children to be more grateful….

Hi, Cheri Fogarty here, founder of Creating My Best Life and Habit Gratitude For Kids where we show you how to get happier and more grateful children and be happier and more grateful yourself.

Today I just want to talk to you about something that’s super basic and something you probably already know, but as busy parents, we need to be reminded of. We need to be reminded that it’s our jobs, as parents, to teach our children to be more grateful.

Now I know that sounds basic, right, but think about this for a moment.

Almost everything and everyone else ‘out there’ is not teaching our children gratitude and kindness and happiness, and most importantly gratitude and appreciation.

From reality tv, to competitive sports, to standardized tests and competition in schools and trying to get into college, celebrities, the news these things are not helping our kids be more grateful.

It’s not the teachers job or the coaches job to teach them to be more grateful. You may have wonderful teachers and wonderful coaches who do encourage your children to be grateful and appreciative, but chances are, for most of you watching, that this job, first and foremost, falls to you, as the parent.

So let’s all today, make the commitment because we know how important gratitude is (and if you don’t and need a reminder, we’ll talk more about it in future videos), but gratitude is truly the key to happiness, for your children and for you, not only today, but for the rest of their lives.

It’s your job to teach them to be more grateful, whether it’s on a daily basis with tips, tools, strategies and ideas we offer for free on our website at or you can google how to teach your kids to be more grateful and you’ll get 10,000, 10 million hits or more, or by following a system we’ve created with The Habit Gratitude Blueprint™.

However you want to do it, commit today to taking on, yes, on more job, but it’s one of the most important jobs you can do, and that’s to teach them the habit of gratitude, to teach them to be more grateful and appreciative and as always, to remember to be yourself.

We’ll talk more about how to do this in future videos but today commit right here and right now that you will, as the parent, create an atmosphere of gratitude and appreciation in your home starting today.

Thanks so much for watching, and as always, remember that we can have happier and more grateful children, we can be happier and more grateful ourselves and we can, and we are, changing the world, one child and one family at a time, starting with our own.

Thanks so much and I’ll see you next time.
