The question I’m answering today is whether or not teaching your children to be more grateful will solve all of your parenting problems.
The short answer is, no, it won’t. But here’s the thing, nothing will! One thing that we should all know by now as parents is that there is no quick fix or magic bullet to all of our parenting problems. That in the ‘real world’ we live in, teaching our children anything is slow and steady and that some days are better than others.
So while teaching your children to be grateful won’t solve all of your parenting problems it can still change your life and change your children’s lives on an epic scale.
Gratitude can help you and your children become happier, healthier, more optimistic, kinder, more compassionate and so much more.
Gratitude is the key to happiness and teaching your children to be grateful is part of teaching them to create their best lives….
Hi, Cheri Fogarty here, author of How to Get Happier and More Grateful Children in Just 21 Days, and founder of the Habit Gratitude Blueprint™ for Busy Families, where we show you step-by-step how to get happier and more grateful children in the real world.
Today, I’m answering a question I hear all of the time: “Will teaching my children to be more grateful solve all of my parenting problems?”
Here’s the answer. No. Teaching your children to be more grateful will not solve all of your parenting problems. Here’s the hard truth. Nothing will. Right? There’s no magic bullet. There’s no quick fix.
That’s another problem in our instant gratification world and one of the reasons children are more entitled these days. There is no quick fix, and technology has made us think that everything has to be fixed overnight or it doesn’t work, and that’s just simply not the case. Gratitude will not solve all of your parenting problems, but to tell you the truth, nothing will. But what gratitude will do is change your life and it will change your children’s lives. Teaching your children to be more grateful makes a difference and it will make your children happier, healthier, more optimistic, kinder, more compassionate and so much more.
Gratitude has so many positive benefits but it is not going to solve every parenting problem you have, and you know what, that’s the real world. That’s real life and that’s one of the obstacles to teaching our children to be more grateful…. I hear this from moms all the time, they start teaching their kids to be more grateful, they try tools, do this and that, but their kids aren’t much more grateful. They think it’s not working or they think it’s impossible or their kids just aren’t going to be grateful or it’s too hard. The bottom line is, is that it’s slow and steady and a little bit more gratitude and happiness is a whole lot better than no gratitude and happiness.
Again, it’s building over time, so no, gratitude won’t solve all of your parenting problems but it will make you and your children so much happier. It will change your life. It is so important that it literally changes your life and theirs on an epic scale. It gives you more control over your life and happiness and it gives your children more control over their life and happiness. Isn’t that what we all want? While gratitude doesn’t solve every parenting problem, it solves an awful lot and it really in the end is so important to do, but you have to do it. That’s it. I just wanted to answer that one question today because I get asked that question all the time.
There’s no magic bullet. There’s no quick fix to every parenting issue we have. That’s just the real world and that’s the truth, and anyone who tells you otherwise is not telling you the truth. We are real Moms who live in the real world and we know real life is busy, real life is messy, real life is unpredictable and more often than not, we’re just trying to get through the day. We also know that if we teach our children to be more grateful, they’ll be happier and all of those other benefits and that’s worth it.
